About Leonard "Tiger" Williams

Leonard "Tiger" Williams is a member of the Quatsino First Nation, who has dedicated over 20 years to perfecting the art of cedar bark weaving. Raised by his grandmother and great-grandmother, Leonard's deep connection to nature and ancestral roots paved the way for his artistic journey.

With a background in Culturally Modified Trees and Traditional Use Studies, Leonard's artistry reflects a harmonious relationship with the environment. His cedar bark weaving, informed by diverse perspectives, echoes the wisdom of Quatsino ethnographic objects. By studying their forms and patterns, he repatriates lost knowledge to his people.

From cedar gathering to the final piece, Leonard's work is a melodic narrative deeply rooted in traditional values. His mastery transcends craftsmanship, embodying a celebration of Quatsino heritage and a testament to the enduring spirit of his people.
